I love this place. It has a very comfortable, relaxed feel most of the time, good juke box, helpful employees, and decent snack bar (hey, it's bowling alley food, what do you expect) . I have worked in bowling alleys so I know they are a struggle to keep clean, especially with the behavior of some of the clientele. It's not a kid's entertainment center like Main Event, it's a real bowling alley. I've seen Chris Barnes working on his game at this place. Some people complain about the old man behind the counter. They should know he is a former pro bowler who throws a 300 game a few times a year and has to contend with a 'wide variety' of customers, crazy requests, occasional drunks, as well as very busy league and tournament play. If they care about the sport and not just letting their kids run rampant for a few hours, they might afford a little respect. This place is a Denton icon.
Went for a kids birthday party. The host of the party ordered a pizza for the kids. They brought a sampler tray instead. When they did this they informed the host that they were out of pizza and brought that instead. The lane attendant also yelled at a parent for retrieving a bowling ball from the side of the lane. The employees were enjoying their conversation and the football game instead of doing their jobs.
The toilet in the men's room didn't flush. Paid $14 for a pepperoni pizza, but it was more like a cheese pizza with a couple pieces of pepperoni on it. The beer was a decent price though. That's about the only thing I will give this place.
Unless you're desperate don't go here. No idea why an old place like this thinks they can charge similar prices as Main Event. $4.50 per game per person plus $4.25 per person for shoe rentals. Either going off their per person price or their hourly packages, they are only slightly cheaper than places like Main Event. 5 of us shared one lane and bowled for about 2 hours and paid $92 (not including what we spent on food). If you have just a few extra bucks then use it, drive 15 extra minutes, and go to a clean, well taken care of place like Main Event!
Very nice place and the people who work here have great customer service.
They put us on a lane with a keypad that didn't work whatsoever. You clicked one button and it bounced all over the place. To type in our names, to fix the scores it jacked up, and any time we needed to do anything on the pad we had to walk up to the front counter to have them do it. Why they didn't just switch our lane I'm not sure since for a while we were one of the only two families there. The lane messed up and reset a couple times every game we played. Between the keypad and the lane not working, it was just a big headache. They don't mind charging you full price though!
I only put 1 star because there's no zero star option. While I see that the price is similar to main event etc, I was confused on the pricing because i thought it was 3.50 per game not per person, so obviously the wording is off. Therefore to my surprise when I thought the games were cheap they were similar to many other major bowling places which makes me displeased knowing that small businesses charge the same knowing they are dirty and offer much less. Still fun. But dirty as hell as well.
