After being seated with a party of 9 people, we gave our order after the drinks finally came 15 mins later. The chips and salsa was the best part of the meal. We ordered cheese dip that tasted like it was watered down, I have tasted canned cheese better than this.
We waited 45 mins for our food and some of it was wrong. I had the beef and cheese enchiladas, they were some of the worst I had ever had. Our ticket was suppose to be devised 3 ways but we had to tell the cashier what we had to ring it up. Will never go back.
Normally this place is really good, I don't know if they were having an off night or something, but seriously, I could have gone to taco bell and gotten more than twice the food for half the price. Very disappointed.
Tried their Wednesday special, it has been awhile since my last visit. Service was better, portions were average, serving temperature was perfect. Now El Fenix allows you to choose cheese, chicken or beef. Apparently they got the message that there's more than one place to eat quality texmex.
My husband and I love El Fenix. We've never had any problems with our orders and the staff has always been really good. We wish we didn't live so far away now. We really miss it!
Overall, the service, food, and atmosphere is great, and I recommend it to anyone who has a taste for flavorful, tasty Tex-Mex cuisine.
I don't normally write reviews of anything, but I really wasn't satisfied with the meal I was given. The proportions for the beans and rice were extremely minimal. It looked like maybe a tablespoon of rice and even less beans. The proportions for the chips were also SO incredibly small. They gave me a very small bag, and that bag was filled maybe less than a quarter way with chips. Even then, the chips were VERY bland and had zero amount of any salt, and the salsa was watery to the point where I really couldn't even call it salsa at all. All in all, I'm just really upset that I paid so much for such a tiny amount. PLEASE fix your proportions.
El Fenix is still the great Mexican restaurant that is was when I first dined there as a kid. The food still meets above average expectations with an authentic Tex-Mex atmosphere. Everything is made to standards, from amazing appetizers and excellent entrees, to satisfying side dishes and delectable desserts. It is one of the best Tex-Mex restaurants in town, and a great place for anyone looking for a quick, well-priced dining experience with the right quality and care. The option to pay at front is very helpful to customers, as well the staff, just don't forget to leave tip!
